How to: Make All Natural Anti-Viral Hand-Sanitizer

With the current international outbreak and concern of the Coronavirus I thought I'd share and update to a previous video I did last year on making homemade hand-sanitizer (see here Make All Natural Hand-Sanitizer).

In this recipe I am using the same ingredients except I am using an essential oil that is known to be anti-viral as a line-of defense against contracting a cold, flu, or other virus. Here I am using Cinnamon Leaf essential oil it is not only suppose to be effective in its liquid form, but it also smells good!

This is the quick and dirty recipe on making an all natural anti-viral hand-sanitizer with Aloe Vera leaf.

  • 1/4C Aloe glycerine or gel
  • 3/4C of Vodak 80+proof
  • 10 - 20 drops of anti-viral essential oil (a few listed below)
  • 1/4t Vitamin E oil (as a preservative)

A small list of anti-viral essential-oils:

  1. Bergamot oil is effective against flu viruses as a vapor after just 10 minutes of exposure.
  2. Eucalyptus oil shows anti-viral activity as a vapor.
  3. Red thyme oil is effective against flu viruses as a liquid phase.
  4. Cinnamon leaf oil also shows antiviral activity as a liquid.
  5. Tea tree oil is effective against the flu virus within 5 to 10 minutes of exposure, as found in another study.
  6. Lemon balm is also shown to prevent the avian influenza (bird flu) virus from reproducing.

There are many more effective anti-viral essential oils, please do your research to find the one(s) that will work for you.
