In this video I am going to show how to distill or make pure tap water.Distilled water is pure water. That is, water without chemicals. Tap water often contains some or more of the following chemicals:

  • Chlorine
  • Fluorine compounds
  • Trihalomethanes (THMs
  • Salts of: arsenic. radium. aluminum. copper. lead. mercury. cadmium. barium
  • Hormones
  • Nitrates
  • Pesticides and possible more!
    • Basically, the process is taking impure water in its liquid form, heating it until it turns into a gas/vapor, then quickly cooling it down so that the vapor condenses back into a liquid form again. This liquid form is free from unwanted contamination and most chemicals.

There are specific apparatus that are built, made, and sold for distilling, but with regular household items it is possible to distill your own tap water. What I am using is the following:

    • Big pot
    • A lid that fits the pot inverted/upside down.
    • Smaller vessel, that fits inside the pot. Preferably glass or ceramic
    • A tool that can elevate the smaller pot so it doesn't float around and/or the smaller pot can rest on once the water level has lowered through evaporation.
    • Ice
    • Water
    • Heat source
    • The process if pretty easy, but BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCALED YOURSELF WITHE HOT WATER OR STEAM! With my set up I was able to distill 1gal of water into 3-cups of pure water in approximately 2 hours and using up about 3/4 of a 6lb bag of ice.
