In this video I show how to put together an anti-viral carpet powder. All you do once you put the ingredients together is to strew it upon your carpet and/or upholstery or bedding, let it sit at least 15 minutes, then vaccume it up. Due to the current international outbreak and concern of the Coronavirus I thought I'd share this recipe I leaned from Clinical Herbalist, Heather Nic an Fhleisdeir (The Village Herbalist see link below)

This carpet powder aborbs moisture out of beds, upholstery, and carpets. It is also ood for elimination/control of dust-mites, bedbugs, and fleas. By keeping dry and fresh places where they breed. The active ingredient is salt, which dries out flea eggs.

It is also anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. A person's allergic reations, around the house especially during the Winter, may be due to mold and/or dust-mites. Also, good for elimination/control of bacteria, mold and pollen in carpet, bedding, and upholsery.

  • 2C Borax (sodium tetraborate)
  • 1T lavender flowers
  • 1T wormwood herb
  • 2t peppermint herb
  • 1t lavender essetial oil
  • 1t cinnamon leaf essential oil (for anti-viral component)
  • 1/4C sea salt (for fleas, optional)

A small list of anti-viral essential-oils:

  1. Bergamot oil is effective against flu viruses as a vapor after just 10 minutes of exposure.
  2. Eucalyptus oil shows anti-viral activity as a vapor.
  3. Red thyme oil is effective against flu viruses as a liquid phase.
  4. Cinnamon leaf oil also shows antiviral activity as a liquid.
  5. Tea tree oil is effective against the flu virus within 5 to 10 minutes of exposure, as found in another study.
  6. Lemon balm is also shown to prevent the avian influenza (bird flu) virus from reproducing.

There are many more effective anti-viral essential oils, please do your research to find the one(s) that will work for you.
